Rikkert Paauw
Rikkert Paauw is a Dutch designer, artist, and architect, born in 1982 in Soest, the Netherlands. He divides his time between Utrecht and Brussels, where he runs his own design studio, founded in 2014.
Patiently selecting discarded materials and waste generously offered to those who know how to pay attention, Rikkert Paauw tirelessly imagines new combinations with infinite possibilities. The ecological impulses of our time are embraced as self-evident truths. Without striving for excessive theorization, Paauw indiscriminately welcomes squandered material riches and subtly reveals the small treasures that give life its flavor. By removing a range of economic and logistical constraints, he fosters autonomy and creativity with a worldview that is both “open source” and constantly evolving.
The identity of the territories where the artist intervenes can be read through the stories of the objects and natural materials gathered during his wanderings. He applies this lifestyle and creative approach to each of his projects, where dialogue with local residents and the energy of a place lie at the heart of a coherent and sustainable interior design.
Nothing is lost, everything is recycled.
