Wilde is pleased to announce the upcoming release of Border Tuner | Sintonizador Fronterizo, a new publication dedicated to a major work by Rafael Lozano-Hemmer.
Published by Inventory Press and designed by IN-FO.CO, this 304-page volume offers an in-depth exploration of Border Tuner, the artist’s large-scale participatory installation that connected the sister cities of El Paso, Texas, and Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua. Through powerful, interactive beams of light, the work enabled real-time communication across the U.S.–Mexico border, creating a shared space for dialogue in a context marked by division and surveillance.
Combining extensive visual documentation with ten critical essays presented in both English and Spanish, the publication examines the artistic, social, and political resonance of the project. It captures the collective experience of tens of thousands of participants who gathered to engage, listen, and connect across borders.
Edited by Michael Nardone and Edgar Picazo Merino, the book brings together contributions from leading writers and scholars, situating Lozano-Hemmer’s work within broader conversations around contemporary art and border practices.
Border Tuner is now available for pre-order, with shipping beginning in May 2026.
