Born in Madrid in 1964 to an American mother and Spanish father, Daniel Canogar is a multimedia artist whose career bridges Spain and the United States. After earning an M.A. from NYU’s International Center of Photography in 1990, he transitioned from photography to exploring the possibilities of projected images, video, and installation art. His practice reflects a deep interest in the relationship between technology, memory, and the flow of information in the digital age.

Renowned for his monumental public artworks using LED screens and generative systems, Canogar has created permanent installations around the world, including Phloem KfW at KfW Bank (Frankfurt, 2024), Pulsation for Nike’s Serena Williams Building (Oregon, 2023), Brushstrokes at DeKa Bank (Frankfurt, 2022), Currents at Evangelische Bank (Kassel, 2020), and Pulse at Texas A&M University (2018). He has also realized large-scale projections such as Amalgama El Prado (Museo del Prado, Madrid, 2019), Oculus (Novartis Pavillon, Basel, 2022), and Storming Times Square (New York, 2014).

His work has been exhibited widely in major museums and galleries including LACMA (Los Angeles), the Museo Reina Sofía (Madrid), the Phillips Collection (Washington D.C.), and the Whitney Museum of American Art (New York). His pieces form part of important public and private collections worldwide. Since 2010, Canogar has been an associate professor at IE University in Madrid, where he directs the “Experimentation Workshop,” focusing on the convergence of architecture, technology, and artistic creation. In 2024, he was appointed a permanent academic member of the San Fernando Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Madrid.
