Laurie Anderson
Laurie Anderson is an acclaimed American multimedia artist, composer, performer, and innovator. Her work spans music, visual art, film, performance, and technology, often blending storytelling, electronics, and live performance. Anderson gained international recognition with her 1981 hit O Superman and has released multiple albums, including Big Science, Life on a String, and Homeland. She has toured globally with performances ranging from spoken word to elaborate multimedia shows, including United States, Songs and Stories for Moby Dick, and Delusion.
A prolific visual artist, Anderson’s installations, videos, and instruments have been exhibited in major museums worldwide, including MoMA, the Musée d’Art Contemporain Lyon, and the Guggenheim. She has composed for film, dance, and theater, collaborated on cutting-edge technology projects, and served as NASA’s first artist-in-residence. Her awards include the Dorothy and Lillian Gish Prize, the Tenco Prize, and Yoko Ono’s Courage Award. Anderson lives and works in New York City.
