Françoise Pétrovitch’s art is associated with the torments and fissures of adolescence, that in-between time that questions the mysteries of the human psyche. Marked by a kind of restraint, even self-effacement, her figures nevertheless reveal an inner turmoil, a psychic density close to overflowing. The unreality of the colors and shapes amplifies the sensation of emotional turmoil and contained uproar. The Sur un os exhibition shakes up time. In the amplitude of the MO.CO. spaces, the artist juxtaposes works from different periods. Produced sometimes thirty years apart, placed in the same space, under the same light, their simultaneous presence provokes telescoping but also correspondences that allow us to grasp the feeling of continuity.
